Hello

I solve learning problems that don't fit neatly into anyone's job description.

My Story

Experience: I have worked in education for 13+ years in a variety of districts, countries, and roles, from teaching English, Social Studies, Broadcast Journalism, Drama, and an Animal Intelligence elective course, to teaching reading enhancement, to serving as the Technology Integration Specialist for my schools.  No matter which position I have, my goals remain the same: support my team, learn essential skills and strategies to excel in the position, and be willing to put in the effort to make sure my work stands out.

Mindset: When building and scaling learning experiences for students, staff, administrators, and parents, I focus on creating engaging, succinct, and informative learning experiences.  As part of my roles, I have incorporated the Marzano strategies and the ADDIE model to develop interactive experiences for various purposes, including technology usage, education, guidelines and policies, best practices, and more. That breadth has sharpened how I think and design for complexity, quality, integration, and growth, while also learning how to move between strategy and execution without losing either.

I believe that great learning design is about both craft and the system. It is not enough to build something that will work once to fulfill an individual training objective; I want my trainings to be applicable as it scales up across teams, roles, regions, and most importantly, time. At the core of everything I build is the belief that when people are engaged and feel the information has real-world context, they are set up for success; people will learn organically and that growth has a positive impact on culture, confidence, and performance. That is the kind of impact I am always striving toward when I design my lessons.

Future Goals: As I transition out of teaching and into the private sector, my focus remains the same: to learn, grow, and to make a positive impact on people. When setting goals for the future, I usually focus on professional and personal goals, and while these often overlap, I feel that separating these two areas establishes the framework for work-life balance. Professionally, I will be transitioning to the private sector, which will allow me more time to explore training programs, learn to code, and apply educational principles that are more suitable for professionals or adults. This transition is exciting to me because I will get a different perspective on how training is done at a corporate level, while also being able to utilize the engagement strategies that I have used to engage teenagers. Personally, I am planning on going on more adventures, like attending the 2028 Olympics, backpacking the Tahoe Rim Trail, traveling to countries in South America, and continuing to grow my interpersonal relationships as I get older.
